Hello! I’m Theodora but you can call me Thea.

 

Thanks so much for looking through my little corner of the internet! I’m a full-time photographer based in the United Kingdom working in couples, elopement, and wedding photography. You can learn more about my journey and experiences with photography below!

Working with laid-back, creative, adventurous, and non-traditional couples who aren’t afraid to show off their personal flair are my jam. You’re likely the type who would opt for experiences over physical goods, you’d rather not pose statically for endless prom-like photos, and you value authenticity.

I love meeting and getting to know the couples I’ll be photographing ahead of time and if you’re getting married I love hearing all about the exciting details of what you have planned. Couples typically end up spending most of their wedding day with their photographer so it’s important that you’re comfortable!

I have included 10 facts about me to get our introduction started.

  1. I have dual citizenship with Canada and The Netherlands.

  2. I have lived in 7 cities across 4 countries with most of my adult life spent in Scotland.

  3. I had only ever worked in various bakeries and french patisseries before becoming a full-time photographer.

  4. I absolutely love corgi’s, I grew up with one and they will be always be my favourite.

  5. I’m a city girl at heart but I grew up close to the Canadian Rocky Mountains so I have a craving to be out in nature as much as possible. I love any excuse to go to the Scottish Highlands and really anywhere mountainous.

  6. I have a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Photography.

  7. I have an obsession with flowers and plants.

  8. I could eat pasta every day of my life.

  9. I taught myself to sew, and now make a lot of my own clothes.

  10. I love picnics, galleries, museums, walks through the park, botanic gardens, dinner parties, jazz + folk music, wild swimming, baking, going for a pint, rock climbing, wild camping, history, all things colourful, dancing, and meeting new people.

My photography journey and experiences

Creating visual work has always been a huge part of my life as I was always drawing, painting, and starting back in primary school I often stole the family camera to document my friends and I. It wasn’t until my high school art teacher took note of and nurtured my passion for photography that I considered it a viable career path. I’m eternally thankful for her, as with that teachers support and guidance I had my work displayed in an internationally recognised gallery and images published on Vogue Italia before I had even graduated from high school which gave me a taste of just how magical working as a photographer could be!

I went on to study photography at university and I am lucky enough to have been trained in commercial and fine-art practices in North America and Europe. I have completed not only a Bachelor’s degree but my thirst for knowledge and desire to expand my skills led to moving to Scotland to complete a Master’s degree in Photography at The Glasgow School of Art.

I started my journey as a wedding photographer quite soon after finishing my studies by assisting and second shooting for other wedding photographers. I instantly took to couples and wedding photography and it wasn’t long before I started booking my own weddings! It might sound corny but I just love-love, I’m a helpless romantic and I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to share other couples love stories.

I have worked in the photography industry for 10+ years and went full-time straight out of university. I still freelance as a commercial photographer majority of the year when I’m not busy with wedding season. My practical experience photographing various people, subject matter, environments, and meeting client needs are directly translatable to your wedding day. My variety of experiences allow me to think on my feet and help make sure everything runs smoothly on the day all while delivering unique imagery.
